Carl Almasy Coccaro is a dynamic and versatile musical artist known for his catchy synth pop melodies, soaring alto-baritone like vocal style, and playful yet uplifting lyrics. Blending elements of synth pop, alternative, and heavy nostalgic new wave flavors. CAC creates music that resonates deeply with audiences around the world.
Formally with the band NRWO- (Nothing Rhymes with Orange), CAC has since gone solo with his debut release in 2021 entitled “80’s in the Blood.” He followed that with a single called “Sweetest Swallow,” and just recently put out his second full album in September of 2024 called “The Endless Summer.”
CAC has generated attention for years, most notably for his original songs, as well as his captivating vocals both live and in studio, and catchy lyrics and melodies. He has teamed up with the talented mixer/producer/songwriter Jeff Shreiner out of Brooklyn, New York who has become his songwriting partner. Both artists share the same stylistic flare, songwriting sensibilities, and edgy arrangements that make for beautiful and emotionally powerful storytelling.
Carl Almasy Coccaro draws inspiration from past genres, such as the 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s. Artists that are similar in genre style include David Bowie, Depeche Mode, The Killers, The Midnight, Kings of Leon, and U2.
Personal experiences include playing with the band NRWO headed by the late Bill Aucoin (Kiss, Billy Idol) for many years abroad in England and Scotland, as well as NYC and the southeast of Florida. NRWO released four albums and had major radio airplay on all colleges across the US, as well as stations around the UK. NRWO toured extensively throughout the UK and the US opening for many major headlining bands, such as One Republic, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and numerous 80’s new wave artists to name a few.
Cultural roots include south Florida, where he started his musical journey, and now resides and creates in Austin, TX for the last eight years.
CAC’s songs explore the beautiful yet intricate layers of personality and relationships, as well as tapping into themes of love, identity, and mental health. As well as an idealistic world of possibilities, wonder, and overcoming struggles to find happiness. Nostalgic themes bring this all together in a fresh modernistic and exciting way.
Accomplishments include seven albums, tours around the world, opening slots for major artists, festival slots such as SXSW and Sunfest, critical acclaim, and major radio airplay. Carl Almasy Coccaro continues to push boundaries and inspires fans with his ever evolving artistry.
